Partners in Care: Fall Prevention for Patient Education

Falling can be a very real hazard for patients who are ill or recovering from illness. Presented in easy-to-understand language, this award-winning program educates patients on the risk factors for suffering a fall, and actions they and their caregivers can take to help prevent falls in the hospital and at home.

Program Highlights

  • Being aware of limitations

  • Making sure the hospital bed is in low position before trying to stand

  • Standing up slowly

  • Wearing shoes with firm non-skid rubber soles

  • Putting away throw rugs at home

  • Adding grab bars in the home bathroom for use in the shower, tub or by the toilet
